Film-Mah-e-Mir-Nominate-for-Oscar-Awards
The 79th Oscar Awards will be held in February 2017 for which Pakistani film “Mah e Mir” has been nominated in the category of “Foreign Language Film”. The film was selected for Oscar Award by Pakistan from a committee, presided over by two time Oscar award winner Sharmeen Obaid Chanai . In January 2017, films for final nomination will be selected by Oscar Awards Committee while the awards will be organized in the end of February next year. This film is based on a modern young man Jamal (Fahad Mustafa) who faces tragedy, loneliness and poverty after his rebellion against traditions during which the condition of 18th Century poet Mir Taqi Mir also came in front of him. Film’s director Anjum Shahzad said that it’s honor for him that his film is representing Pakistan in Oscar. He was happy that at least people will see this film that will provide them information about performance of Pakistani cinema. Films like this are very few in Pakistan and it’s enough that it is made and running in cinemas. He said Pakistani people and media should support Pakistani cinema which is at its initial stages.
