UMBEL

UMBEL (Upper Mapping and Binding Exchange Layer) has two purposes. Its first purpose is to provide a general vocabulary (the UMBEL "vocabulary") of classes and predicates for describing domain ontologies, with the specific aim of promoting interoperability with external datasets and domains. The second purpose is to provide a coherent framework of broad subjects and topics (the UMBEL "reference concepts"), suitable as binding nodes for mapping relevant Web-accessible content, also with the specific aim of promoting interoperability and to reason over a coherent reference structure and its linked resources. UMBEL presently has about 28,000 of these reference concepts drawn from the Cyc knowledge base, which are organized into more than 30 mostly disjoint SuperTypes.

OSF-Web-Services

The Open Semantic Framework (OSF) is a generally RESTful middleware API layer that provides the bridge between existing content, structure and schemas, legacy content management systems and RDF data stores. The OSF Web Services is the set of OSF web services that are used to manage all the content indexed in OSF.

OSF-Web-Services-PHP-API

The OSF Web Services PHP API is a framework available to PHP developers to help them generating queries to any OSF Web Service endpoint. Each OSF web service endpoint has its own WebServiceQuery class in the OSF WS PHP API. This class is used to generate any query, to send it to be endpoint of a OSF instance and to get back a resultset. The resultset can then be manipulated by using the Resultset API. This same API can be used to transform the resultset in different formats.

OSF-Widgets

OSF Widgets are JavaScript and Flex semantic component that takes record(s) description(s) and irXML schema(s) as input, and that outputs some (possibly interactive) visualization(s) of that record. Depending on the logic described in the input schema(s) and the input record(s) description(s), the semantic component will behave differently to optimize its presentation to the users.

MUNI

The MUNI Ontology is a modified version of the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary (IPSV) from the United Kingdom (see http://doc.esd.org.uk/IPSV/2.00.html), for which many thanks are offered. MUNI has modified this vocabulary to include North American concepts, to internationalize spellings, and to remove UK-specific considerations. MUNI has also been extended in the specific areas of community indicator systems (CISs). As a community-supported initiative, we anticipate MUNI to continue to diverge from IPSV over time. However, links are also maintained to the IPSV identifiers.
